In Case You Missed It: Veterans Groups Praise Buyer for his “Leadership and Advocacy” that Led to Protections for Veterans in Health Care Bill

Washington, D.C. – Several Veteran Service Organizations thanked Steve Buyer, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, for his recent efforts to protect veterans in the healthcare reform bill.  

The joint press release from AMVETS, Blinded Veterans Association, Disabled American Veterans, Jewish War Veterans of the USA, Military Order of the Purple Heart, and Vietnam Veterans of America highlighted Buyer’s efforts to secure the cooperation of congressional leaders to amend H.R. 3200 to ensure veterans were not adversely affected.

“On behalf of millions of veterans who depend on VA to provide them with health care, we thank Rep. Buyer for his leadership and advocacy for veterans that led to adoption of two important amendments in the Energy and Commerce Committee, as well as this new agreement to protect veterans during health care reform.”

Buyer’s efforts were also supported by other veterans groups including: National Association for Uniformed Services, Paralyzed Veterans of America, The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Wounded Warrior Project, and the Association of the United States Army.
