Buyer Responds to Controversy about VA’s “Your Life, Your Choices”

Washington, D.C. –Today, House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Ranking Member Steve Buyer made the following statement regarding the use of publication “Your Life, Your Choices” by VA primary care practitioners:

“The document ‘Your Life, Your Choices’ is obviously not suitable in its current form for veterans and especially not for wounded warriors.  It should be removed from the VA website, and the guidance to VA primary care practitioners on its use should be rescinded. For the future, the Secretary should establish an expert panel to review these types of materials to ensure that they are appropriate for all veterans and their families.  I have requested that the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs hold a hearing on this publication.”
