Washington, D.C. — Tonight, House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Ranking Member Steve Buyer, issued the following statement in response to today’s events at Ft. Hood, Texas:

Washington, D.C. — Yesterday, the House passed a number of veteran related measures, including legislation introduced by Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity Ranking Member John Boozman to improve job training opportunities for veterans.

Washington, D.C. — Today, the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs approved two bills, including measures to increase veterans’ ability to compete for Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) procurement contracts, and to improve job training opportunities for veterans.

Washington D.C. — Today, Congressman Steve Buyer held a roundtable discussion with organizations representing veteran entrepreneurs and other groups with expertise on government contracting to identify ways to improve Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) acquisition. 

Washington D.C. — On Tuesday, Congressman Steve Buyer held a meeting with the General Services Administration (GSA) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to identify ways to increase small businesses’ ability to bid on VA procurement contracts by expanding their access to the GSA schedule.

Washington, D.C. – Today, the Subcommittee on Health approved five bills to improve Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) services for homeless veterans and establish a therapeutic pilot program in which veterans suffering from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) would train service dogs for other veterans with physical disabilities.
